A Summer in the City

June 9, 2016

Hello!

As many of you know, this summer I am interning at The TJX Companies, Inc. headquarters in Framingham, MA. I am living in a beautiful apartment on Northeastern's campus in Boston with three other awesome interns. This is my 3rd week in the merchandising program, and I am absolutely loving every moment! I have learned so much so far about the retail industry, and feel so lucky to be able to be able to work for such a successful company. TJX is a 32 billion dollar company that is consistently growing, and is one of the only retail companies right now that is following that trend.

I've always wanted to work in the fashion/retail industry, and after starting here I have definitely confirmed that aspiration. Everyone that I have met is so enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to help clear up the ten thousand questions I ask each day. I wake up each morning and am genuinely excited to take on the day. I know it's dorky and cliché, but I really think that if you wake up in the morning and are excited about what you do, you will never work a day in your life.

As I mentioned, I am also living in a city for the first time in my life this summer. I was a little wary at first, I've always loved living in a small town, but living in the city is incredible. Boston has such a life to it that is indescribable. It is bustling, yet homey and there is constantly opportunities to try new things, and meet new people.

I've been going on runs every day after work, and each time I've taken totally different route so I can explore the city a little more. I've had a smile plastered on my face for a lot of the time so I'm sure I've looked pretty weird to a lot of people. I'm also guilty of taking a picture of the sunset almost every night because the skyline is just so pretty!

Even though it's just beginning, I can tell that I have a very rewarding and educating summer ahead of me!

XOXO
