I almost didn't make it there, but I had a fun weekend in Barcelona. After stupidly forgetting my passport on my way to the airport and having to go back and get it, I barely was able to board my flight and arrived in Barcelona Thursday night.
We went to a club called Bling Bling, which was packed, but a ton of fun. On Friday, we walked around the city and the beach! The beach we went to was actually manmade, which was part of the city's redesign for the 1992 Olympic Games. After relaxing on the beach for a while, we met up with the rest of our friends at Bunkers del Carmel, which is a mountain on the outskirts of the city with one of the most incredible views. We sat for a while and drank some wine before heading back down the mountain.
From there we headed to the The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, which is a beautiful fountain light show to the beat of music. The crowd was massive, but it's understandable as to why. There were a few short shows that we stayed to watch, each to a different soundtrack. Then we got ready to go out for the night, but we ended up just going to a bar called The Black Sheep.
On Saturday, we walked around the city including visiting the Arc de Triomf (yup there's one in Barca too!) We also saw Parc de la Ciutadella, which had a pond where you can rent boats.
After our stroll in the park we met up with friends and headed to Tibidabo amusement park. This amusement park is on the top of a mountain that overlooks the city. We only got skywalk tickets, so we were able to go on the ferris wheel and a few other rides. We also were able to visit The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, a gorgeous church also at the top of the mountain where we watched the sunset.
That night we went to a club called Pacha, which was right along the beach. After the club my friend Meghan was daring enough to go in the water, but I was cold even just standing in the sand! It was a fun but exhausting end to our weekend.
Sunday after sleeping in, we went to Sagrada Familia, but didn't have enough time to go inside which is a huge regret of mine. All that means is that I will have to go back to Barcelona one day! Even just seeing it from the outside it was incredible. After, we grabbed tacos and visited a flea market before going to the airport to fly back to Madrid.
I wish I had been able to see more in Barcelona this weekend, but I had so much fun with the Bentley crew!
