At Home Teeth Whitening: What Works?

January 11, 2018

As a coffee lover, (okay. You're right, it's an addiction)  I have embarrassingly gained some unsightly yellow stains on my teeth over the past few years. I've tried many whitening toothpastes, whitening strips, and whitening mouthwashes but all to no avail. When I got the opportunity to try Smile Brilliant's T3 Sensitive System, I figured what did I have to lose.

Boy am I sure glad I gave it a shot! Smile Brilliant's unique strategy is to allow everyday people to perform professional whitening treatments in the comfort of their own home. The reason why professional teeth-whitening can be so costly, is mostly due to the actual trip to the dentist and not the technology itself. That's where Smile Brilliant comes in.

When I first received my kit, I was able to follow the simple instructions in order to create my own molds of my teeth, which were then sent back to the lab and converted into my very own custom-fitted teeth whitening trays. The entire process only took me about a few hours from mixing the mold putties together to dropping off my dry, finished molds at the post office in my pre-stamped envelope. In just a few days I got my trays in the mail and I was ready to start whitening!

Having custom fitting trays truly changes the whitening experience, as you are able to treat your entire smile and not just the front few, and you don't need to deal with messy strips sliding back and forth.

The whitening gel is stored in three syringes, which hold about four applications each! Since my teeth are typically sensitive, my kit also came with three syringes of de-sensitizing gel which I used following my treatments.

My whitening routine usually starts just before bed. I found this the best time because I was easily able to just add it to my regular nightly routine, and that way I wouldn't re-stain my teeth after whitening. (Plus, I've already gotten started on one of my New Years Goals from my post a few days ago while whitening!) The nice thing is, you only need to whiten for 45 minutes to 3 hours, so I typically stuck to one to two depending on what time I was settling down for the night.

Within just a few days of treatments, I was amazed at the results I was seeing. Not only was I finding success, I was seeing progress after just one treatment. Here's a picture of my smile before treatment, and after just five treatments.

I will definitely continue using Smile Brilliant to whiten from home, as it's the most success that I have ever had with a whitening product and I'm really excited about the results!

Now for the best part...
